Beads

Beads are among the oldest known jewelry objects. In fact, two of these items created from shells are thought to be the earliest known examples of jewelry. These were created specifically from Nassarius around 100,000 years ago.

There are many different materials used in the creation of beads. The most common of which are plastic, glass, and stone. However, many other types exist, such as shell, wood, metal, and even bone.

Beads are pierced items. This allows for them to be thread or strung on different materials. However, sometimes they are just fastened onto a surface with some sort of adhesive. The practice of creating with these items is known as beadwork.
